Wow - what a treat! Windborne from the USA returned after 3 years to give us a wonderful weekend of music - learning from them in a full-day workshop on Saturday and enjoying a stunning concert on Sunday evening.
On Saturday Jeremy, Lauren, Lynn and Will took us on a wonderful musical journey teaching us a fine mixture of songs including: a French Quebecois song about the weavers work ethic (or lack of it!) Les Tisserands (complete with peerless foot percussion from Lynn); Turėja Liepa - an ancient Lithuaninan multipart song from the Sutartinės tradition; Which side are you on; Song on the times and the beautiful Sing on by Heidi Wilson written in memory Larry Gordon - responsible for such a dynasty of singers. Sunday evening saw Marazion Community Centre transformed with flowers and fairy lights and full of expectation as we gathered in good number for the 1st time since 'you know what' ... and were certainly not disappointed. Windborne treated us to a stunning performance - by turns measured, passionate, politically engaged, funny and sincere ... effortlessly showcasing their sophisticated arrangements, beautiful voices and phenomenal blend. They went down a storm, have promised to return ... and we intend to keep them to their word! Thank you Windborne for an uplifting, inspiring weekend, to all 'Kana Kernow Angels' who helped make everything happen and to everyone who came along and supported this inspiring weekend. And thank you Larry ... for being at the root of so much for so many of us. Right: Turėja Liepa - taught by Lynn and Will
