S-T-R-E-T-C-H project
After a successful pilot in Summer '24 we have decided to go ahead with the S-T-R-E-T-C-H project. The premise is to bring together a small group of committed, confident singers who are interested in the challenge of working on: sound quality, accuracy, tuning, blend and interpretation in the lovely acoustic of Carleen Village Hall (Minimum 10 - maximum 24 voices).
Each term the 9 or 10 sessions of the S-T-R-E-T-C-H project will form a self-contained 'series' in which we concentrate on singing a small number of songs in a variety of styles, suited to the voices available. The idea is to learn and work on songs for the pleasure of singing beautiful a capella harmony music as well as we can, while enjoying the challenge and satisfaction of pushing ourselves to improve - individually and as a group. The focus will be on the process - not performance. We may choose to share something we've been working informally e.g. at the 'Big Friendly Sing' on 20th December ... but this would be a group decision, not a pressure.

- S-T-R-E-T-C-H Autumn 2024 will take place on the following dates (NB not always consecutive weeks)
- 24th Sept
- 1st Oct (one week break)
- 15th Oct [TENOR sectional 9.15 - 9.45]
- 22nd Oct (two week break) [BASS sectional 9.15 - 9.45]
- 12th Nov [ALTO sectional 9.15 - 9.45]
- 19th Nov [SOPRANO sectional 9.15 - 9.45]
- 26th Nov (one week break)
- 10th Dec
- 17th Dec
- 10.00am - 12.15pm (with a 15 minute BYO coffee break)
- Carleen Village Hall, TR13 9QP (good parking, access and great acoustic for singing)
The S-T-R-E-T-C-H project suits singers who are:
- Motivated and excited by the idea of a collective vocal challenge
- Able to sing in tune and hold their part confidently with 2 or 3 other voices
- Either: able to read music and / or willing and able to learn parts (accurately) from sound files of individual parts sent out in advance
- Willing to listen with as much attention as we sing
- Willing to experiment
- Willing to review music / words between sessions
- Open and committed to the project ...
- Able to make at least 8 dates of the 10 dates of the Autumn '24 S-T-R-E-T-C-H project series
- Cost: £81 - payable in advance once your place is confirmed (you are welcome to request a 'pay what you can' bursary place if that would enable you to participate - please don't let financial resource be a barrier to singing).
- NB you need to be confident you are free to attend at least 8 of the 10 sessions to sign up for the series.
