Fab LaB - a 'free range' version of Levow an Bys for C-19 times

Thank you for registering to sing with the 'Fab LaB' which is basically 'Levow an Bys during C-19 times', singing in whatever guise we can manage. Currently we are raising our voices in gentle, distanced harmony, singing songs from around the world on Friday evenings (7 - 8.30pm) in the spacious venue of Marazion Community Centre (complying with 'Covid-19 Secure guidelines' and the Centre's 'Special conditions of hire during Covid -19 - Click here if you would like to read the Risk Assessment).

Booking in advance is essential (if you haven't booked in advance but would like to come, please contact Pip who will let you know if / when there is a space).  If you are coming ... please: print off and bring with you MUSIC and LYRICS for the sessions (Click HERE to access) NB ... for obvious reasons I will not be able to provide copies for singers.

In order to minimise risk, we have arranged things so that you do not have to touch anything in the hall (unless you go to the loo ;-). So rather unusually we are asking everyone to bring their own folding chair so we do not need to move the hall chairs which have been used by all other groups, and you do not need to walk past each other collecting and replacing chairs.

Please read the all the instructions below carefully and follow them to the letter to keep things clear and everyone as safe as possible:
  1. We need to stagger arrival times: If your surname starts with A - L,  please arrive at 6.40pm, if your surname starts with M to Z please arrive at 6.50pm. Your temperature will be taken on the way in (with a contactless thermometer) .
  2. Please help take responsibility for yourself and others: If you or anyone you live with has had C-19 symptoms in the last 7 days: a high temperature, a new, continuous cough, a loss of or change to your sense of smell or taste; or you have been asked to isolate by Test, Track and Trace do not attend.
  3. There will be a one way system in operation for arriving and leaving. Please do not congregate or 'mingle' at any time in any sub-group of more than 6 (and this socially distanced).
  4. Social distancing of 2 metres needs to be observed AT ALL TIMES, including gathering to enter, leaving, queuing for the loo etc. maintaining this is the responsibility of each individual and the group as a whole. NB - the current government guidelines say the following: 'If an amateur group is not able to ensure that no mingling takes place between these sub-groups of no more than 6 (including when arriving at or leaving activity or in any breaks or socialising) then such non-professional activity should not take place.'
  5. Please bring with you: your own folding chair, water and other refreshments (we will have a 10 minute break - kitchen out of bounds), sanitiser, mask / face covering, hot water bottle (if you wish ;-), Lyrics sheet ... please avoid bringing any extra stuff  into the hall with you not needed for the session.
  6. Suggest dressing warmly with layers as we will have the doors open all the time if the weather allows. Imagine you're meeting outside (I'd bring a hot water bottle ;-)
  7. When you arrive there will be (specially made!) bean bags placed around the room (colour coded for different voice sections ;-) at 2 metre social distance. Please DO NOT move them, but place your chair over one of the appropriate colour for your section (Basses - Scarlet, Tenors - Turqoise, Altos - Purple, Sopranos - Sky blue) ... take your seat, settle in and do not mingle!
  8. Please wear a mask / face covering at all times when moving around.  If you wish to wear one when singing that is fine (we did a trial - it's not as bad as you might think). NB Pip will not be wearing a mask when leading singing, but will be at 3 metres distance from nearest singer and use a personal microphone so as not to have to talk or sing loudly (NB we have been advised it is not good to use visors when singing). A helpful reminder from a singer - when you take your mask off please store it safely (plastic bag or box recommended) ... do not wave it around with gay abandon!
  9. If you develop Covid-19 symptoms in the 7 days following a rehearsal and test positive you MUST use the Test, Track and Trace system to alert others with who you have been in contact. Please also inform Pip on 07899 890 214 so the Hall booking secretary can be informed.
  10. Please remember that while we are excited at the prospect of being able to sing in person and we will do everything we can to keep the venue and session as Covid 19-secure as possible, your health (and that of the people you live with) is your responsibility so please make the right choice for you as to whether to attend or not.
  11. If you are not able to attend in person, you can take part from home over Zoom. However, if in person singing, or zooming is not for you ... please do be reassured that your singing friends and your choir community will be there for you when things become more 'normal' again.
  12. Well - if you've got to number 12 - Bravo! ... and I look forward to seeing you for a lovely sing on Friday ;-). A big thank you to everyone who has volunteered to helping out at the sessions - we need to work as a team to make this possible.
